About SpedSOWhat
spedSOwhat is an organization located in North Texas that is committed to empowering families with autism and other neurodiversities through a variety of initiatives and opportunities. From hosting social events for children and teens to offering networking opportunities for parents and adults, spedSOwhat is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and support for individuals across the spectrum.
One of the key features of spedSOwhat is our focus on inclusion. We know what it's like to feel left out. To not get that invite at school or to that party this weekend.. it's about time we shift our focus. Here at spedSOwhat, everyone is invited! Our calendar of events lists a variety of activities aimed at bringing families and friends together, from sensory-friendly movie or bowling nights to parent support groups and adult's night out.
At the heart of spedSOwhat's mission is a dedication to raising awareness and providing valuable resources to families and people like us. Through our blog section, families can access articles, tips, and personal stories that offer insight and support weekly. We will flood our social media feeds with tools, information and events so be sure to check us out on Instagram and Facebook, @spedsowhat!
Whether it's information on navigating those scary and long IEP meetings, or strategies for promoting independence and hygiene, spedSOwhat aims to be a go-to resource for ALL families on their autism journey (or whatever journey that might be).
By creating a space for families to connect, learn, and grow, spedSOwhat hopes to empower other families by building a strong and vibrant community for all. As we join together to raise awareness and promote a better understanding for the community, we strive to serve as a beacon of hope and support for anyone feeling that they have no direction or place of belonging.
You are not alone!
Join us, will ya?
